Surgery Cancelled Again

I should have seen this one coming, but I was still hoping the foot surgery could be done on Friday.

But alas, the doctor wants another urine sample after the five day dose of antibiotics.

And all I know is that I am running out of "clean" (unused) cath bags to catch those sterile samples. And I am tired of shooting Bob up with lovenox for no reason, but the doctor said to continue with the lovenox and keep him off warfarin because he didn't see any sense in putting him back on warfarin just to take him off of it again....

Anyway, no surgery on Friday. Bob was in tears at this news.

More sordid details on how this all came about in the previous post.

All I can say is: grrrrr.....

Diane; If at all possible try to take the urine sample directly rather than using a catheter/bag even when sealed and unused. After numerous repeat "infections" from urine samples taken from a "clean" bag, Karen's doctor advised to avoid the catheter. It was difficult to do, but we succeeded and the sample tested good. Subsequent samples were then done directly. Good luck.

Hugs & prayers, Dan

Oh I am so sorry to hear this Diane...gads...how much can one take....Rick is probably coming home from the hospital tomorrow...with home health care...he doesn't seem to be as weak as he usually is after being laid up for a week...they are doing physical therapy every day which is a first...so we will see....
Tell Bob we are sending prayers your way ...
sounds like they are being extra careful about no infection before surgery...
Take care
Theresa

What a disappointment! Even though you knew it might be postponed, you had hope that it would work out. That darn hope again: what trouble it causes, along with the joy of optimism. Next week, maybe.

Feeling awful for Bob (and you, too, of course). Have a heel spur going on, ouch is all I can say (and nothing compared to Bob's pain). I've a greater appreciation for the level of suffering Bob must be feeling. Sending much love, relief, and healing and miracles.....
