Brrrrr....

This morning it was 37 degrees here in sunny Florida and I nearly froze to death walking the dog! The high today is expected to hit 49 degrees. And believe me, I am not used to this. And, OK, I admit, I am a wimp when it comes to cold weather!

So add to my daily caregiving duties: hauling in firewood, and tending a fire all day long...

And now I must go do the daily laundry on our unheated back porch!

I'm hearin' that! Although 37 degrees would be a sultry warm up from the current -15, add the wind and it's a nut freezing-cracking -25. Our high quality aluminum frame windows drip with condensation, adding to the ice chunks on the ledges. I remember to tell myself I am grateful FOR windows! lol. This weather leads me to muse about colonial women tending the hearth all day, every day - for if they didn't, there would be no food as well as no warmth. So Cheers! to the colonial woman inside you!
p.s. I'm so glad we got to talk last week! :) No matter what's going on, underneath the layers of exhausted UGH-ness, I still hear one solidly powerful woman. Love you so! :)

Dianne sounds down right balmy down there. Can't imagine depending on wood fire to keep warm in the city though. My stroke association sells hand knit afghans to cuddle under ... popular this time of year.

I can't imagine doing several loads of laundry in 49 degree weather. I hope it warms up soon.

I won't begin to tell you how cold it was here.....but northern Illinois definitely not the tropics right now.

Stay warm, and enjoy the cozy fire.
