Finally, The Power Chair! --- And then...

Finally, Bob's new wheelchair arrived!  And then, the delivery guy couldn't get it through the back door.... aargh!

So he had to take a portion of the armrests off and was able to just squeeze it through..... grrrr....

I tell you, this pissed me off because I told the guy (when we ordered the chair) that our back door was narrow and gave him the dimensions -- and he assured me it would fit....

But getting the thing out the back door was a complete bitch!
Anyway, Bob was able to try out the new chair...
And the twists and turns of the ramp was another difficulty....
But once on the road, he was tooling!

Vrrroooom!

And he pretty much passed me by -- so this was my view of him!

And we returned home only to get stuck on the back ramp, then stuck in the back door, then stuck between the fridge and door, then stuck in one of the interior doors and then hung up on the dog dishes and smashing into the oil heater and...

the brand new wheelchair is scratched to heck... grrr....

And it's now parked in my office.

I think we'll leave it there, until we move!

Your just parking it there so he doesn't run off without you!

Great that Bob finally got his power chair. I had to "flip" the door frames and doors (2) at my house to get Karen's wheel chair through them. It gave us about 2" more width. With you moving soon, that may not be practical but know it's an option.
I bet Bob loved that little bit of freedom.

Hugs & prayers, Dan

This is stupendous!

Bob! Love seeing your independence!!!!

D - have contractor measure entry doors at new house & compare to new wheels so you can make necessary adjustments before moving in.

Jenn, new house has all 32 inch doorways, whereas we are dealing with 29 inch doorways here, also new ramp will be twice as wide~ and not so many twists and turns inside to get through doors... Can't wait! And just another reason to move - as much as I hate leaving this house....

WTG Bob! **Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Looking for adventure
In whatever comes our way...**

Leaving the chair for the new house is a wise choice. It will save aggravation, fingers, hands, and your back.

I took moving thru space for granted until I had a stroke so I know why Bob took off in his power wheelchair. I didn't know the body craves movement of any kind. I'm glad you have another incentive that will make letting go of your current home easier. Glad to hear your new home is W/C accessible.

Wow! Congratulations to you both for this step (roll?) forward. I'm very excited about your move. It'll be wonderful for both of you. How's the new neighborhood for Bob to tool around?

Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
